My career began far from the usual industry hotspots. Without an advanced degree and based in a small town in Atlantic Canada, I accepted a territory rep position with a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company.
Undeterred by geography or credentials, I doubled down on my true passion: developing people. In my spare time, I coached local youth sports teams—learning firsthand how to motivate, teach, and adapt to individual strengths.
My Journey in Pharma Sales
Early in my tenure, I was asked to turn around an underperforming regional sales team.
I applied my athlete‑mentoring insights to the workplace: investing in each rep’s personal growth, aligning their individual goals with broader team objectives, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
Within six months, territory sales shot up by 25%. That breakthrough led me through promotions from Senior Manager to Regional Director—and ultimately to National Director at two major pharma organizations.
